Maverick

This film follows a week in the life of gambler Bret Maverick (Mel Gibson) as he tries to raise $3000 in just a few days to enter 'the poker game of the century'. Set in the American old west, Maverick encounters many problems with trying to raise the cash including a seductive female thief/gambler, a man on a mission to stop him making the game, bank robbers and indebted ‘friends’ who don't have the money they borrowed of him. Witty, classy and intelligent with huge twists, this is a film that is definitely worth watching. Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster and James Garner all deliver amazing performances and this has to be without a doubt some of there best work. It is also expertly directed by Richard Donner who uses everything to his advantage. I strongly recommend this film to everybody.
